How it works
Why power stretching lasts.
Many carpets are installed with only a knee kicker, a short tool that nudges the carpet toward the wall. It feels tight on day one, and the slack shows up as ripples within a year. A power stretcher braces against the opposite wall and pulls the whole room tight, the way the manufacturer specifies.
Slack in the carpet lifts into ripples. They catch vacuum heads and feet, and they wear into permanent creases.
A power stretcher braces against the far wall and pulls the slack out. The excess is trimmed and tucked, and the carpet lies flat.

Why does carpet get ripples?
Usually one of four things: it was installed with only a knee kicker instead of a power stretcher, humidity swelled the backing, heavy furniture was dragged across it, or a previous cleaner soaked it with too much water. Most ripples can be stretched out.
Can you stretch carpet without moving furniture?
We move what's in the way of the stretch, usually along one or two walls, and put it back. Very heavy pieces like pianos or gun safes need to be moved before we arrive.
Is stretching cheaper than new carpet?
By a lot. Stretching one room is $129. Replacing the carpet in that room usually costs over $1,000 installed.
How long does it take?
About 45 minutes to an hour per room. Most homes are done in one visit, and you can walk on it immediately.
Should I clean or stretch first?
Stretch first, then clean, on the same visit. You save $30 and the carpet is flat and clean in one appointment.
